Jimmy Jones said last season he was going to stand down, stayed on this season but took a back seat and handed all decisions to the committee.
This has worked well but Mr. Jones will definitely stand down at the end of this season. He has family commitments and has not the time to spare. (Update: Since the article was written, the A.G.M. was held on 28th June and Jimmy officially stood down.)
"The club owes a big debt of gratitude to Jimmy and Jane for everything they have done for this club. We have a ground that is possibly one of the best in the league, the hospitality offered is some of the best and this is in no small part due to them both.
"We have at the moment three good adult teams thanks to the overall management of Jon White & Martin Sinclair of TurnStyle Printing & Embroidery, we have an excellent youth set-up, a great committee who work extremely hard, a great squad of players throughout and - most importantly - some superb supporters who have stood by us in the not so good times and are now enjoying the better times.
"The forthcoming season is the 125th anniversary and already we have received confirmation from Norwich City they are bringing a strong side for a pre-season friendly on July 16th & the FA will be sending an FA XI for friendly later in the season.
"We are looking for a chairman who hopefully has some business experience and has time, so it would possibly suit someone retired and who has a passion for football. Difficult to beat Jimmy in the latter!". Last Season was one of the best in a long time but we need someone to steer the ship and someone who has contacts. We are close to various large oil companies but unfortunately they sponsor Clubs out of the area because of the contacts.
"The committee will willingly work with this person, but, if for the good of the club this same person wishes to bring in their own people, they would be prepared to stand down. All is negotiable."
